Zombie Smash iPhone App Review: When Dawn of the Dead meets the iPhone

Posted by: Robert Allen , January 27, 2011

If you enjoyed Plants vs. Zombies, you will definitely find Zombie Smash as entertaining and addicting. Although a future with the undead may seem like a line in a movie script, Zombie Smash brings this crazy thought to life with this entertaining game that involves smashing and destroying zombies. Zombie Smash is probably one of the best “survival comedy” games that ever got to the iPhone. It is a fun app which you will surely play again and again, until you’ve had enough of the undead.

In the game, you make use of a variety of weapons which are effective against zombies. You can shoot zombies with a shotgun, blow a large group into oblivion with a bomb, throw rocks at them one by one, or if this seems like it’s taking too much time, using a wrecking ball will surely get rid of the zombies on your screen—until a new wave arrives. Everything you have ever wanted to do to zombies which you never got to do on PvZ is possible here. You can even hurl a giant, burning meteoroid chunk at them—now that’s fun!

Zombie Smash makes use of effects that are both gory and comical at the same time. If you use a cinematic manner of killing the zombies, they could fly off to the edge of the screen in slow-mo which you can take a snapshot of for sharing to your friends. Since you will be attacking zombies using a variety of weapons, you will encounter limbs flying off or heads rolling on the ground followed by a trail of blood; and yes, there will be lots of blood. To put icing on the cake, you can even throw these dismembered parts around and use them against other zombies.

In Zombie Smash, you let your imagination decide on the weapons and the manner of killing zombies. They can be hysterical, violent, or maybe soft, whichever you prefer. The zombies will attempt to reach your home but if you are quick enough, you can stop them before they get to you. This castle-defense game resembles Plants vs. Zombies in a way but there is a big difference when it comes to game play. In Zombie Smash, you are free to move to any side of the screen as well as do everything and anything you like to the zombies.

Gamedoctors, the makers of Zombie Smash, have definitely created a fun pick for kids and adults alike. Although bloodshed is a bit common in the game, they still retain their cartoon value and are safe for young minds. The game’s features include Sandbox wherein killing the zombies without dying is possible and SplatterEngine which, as the name suggests is a tool for killing zombies.

Still can’t get enough of Zombie Smash? Get them on your iPhone today and start your siege against the undead. For the hippest games on the iPhone, head on over to http://www.AppCraver.com and get the latest news about what to play and what to watch out for.
