Resident front man and team badass (Note the sunglasses) Tomonobu Itagaki has quit Team Ninja citing the reason that the Tecmo president has refused to pay completion bonuses owed for Team Ninja’s various work. Itagaki has also said that he will be working on a new game although it will not be a Ninja Gaiden title or a Dead or Alive title. Itagaki seems to have been upset with Tecmo for a while, possibly due to Tecmo deciding to produce quantity over quality titles (He wasn’t happy with Ninja Gaiden Sigma, nor the port of Rygar to the Wii)
To you I say this Itagaki, good for you for standing up for your beliefs. I for one will be sad to find that Ninja Gaiden 3 will probably never see the light of day or will without Itagaki’s influence…which would probably be worse. To other Gaiden fans, don’t forget that Ninja Gaiden 2 will be in stores this wednesday. Make sure you pick up a copy and show Tecmo what a loss they are taking by losing the great (and very very cocky) Itagaki.
