Keeping Up With New Iphone Apps

Posted by: Robert Allen , January 16, 2011

There’s always something new coming into the iPhone app world. It’s hard keeping track of those life-changing little things. Some claim to save your life, like the new “Silent Body Guard” app, some help you knit, like the new “1, 2, 3 Knit!” app. No matter what your interest is, there’s an app for it.

For those who want to stay on top of what’s coming out of the app factory, here are some highlights of the new and reviewed.

For lifestyle apps, the new Thrillist app is very resourceful for being in-the-know around town.  Thrillist updates you on the best place to eat, drink and shop. You can also watch weekly Thrillist video clips, share articles with friends via email, Facebook, and Twitter — even check in to Thrillist-selected venues on Foursquare — all from your iPhone.

For music apps, Jukebook is the newest music app that allows you to share songs, albums, and podcast from your iPhone or iPod touch with your Facebook friends. The app features include commenting on currently playing songs, browsing songs, albums and podcasts, and allowing you to view the title, album, artists, album art, and rating of your searches. You can even listen to music and use integrated music controls, including the iTunes Music Store, so your friends can listen along with you.

Drum roll please…now you can print from your iPad. iPrinting HD is the new wireless printing application for the iPad. You can print the screen you’re currently on and save and print PDF files. iPrinting Server for Mac is needed for this application. It’s also compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch.

The newest addictive game app to come to the market is Oil Spill-Black Gold. This nice, new game is even offering a limited time .99 cents offer for purchase. It’s a puzzle game that’s been described as fun, addicting, and entertaining. The aim of the game is to clear the board by “exploding” oil drops. The more chain reactions you can figure out to connect, the higher your score. Also, there is puzzle mode, which allows you to compete against your friends. You can even email your friends your high score to see who can beat it.

For those indecisive people out there, the Hairstylez app is perfect when in search of a new look. The app comes with hundreds of hairstyles to “try on”, and allows you to change the color and length of them. You can cut the hair off with just your fingertips, and if you like the new you, you can save it to your Facebook wall, email it, or save it.

So, app away, iPhone, iPod and iPad friends. If you didn’t find what you are looking for here, not to worry, there’s a new app coming out just around the minute.
