Apple iPhone

The apple iPhone has been an instant success since the first introduction in June 2007. iPhone’s global mobile phone market share has risen steadily from around 0.3% in 2007 to 2% in 2009 and by now the iPhone has a market share of 4.3%. This might not sound as a whole lot but keep in mind that Apple has done this with only one device while all the other manufacturers many different types of phones.

iPhone 4

One of the biggest events for Apple in 2010 was of course the introduction of the new Apple iPhone 4. After months of rumors and speculation apple released their latest mobile device, the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 had a new slimmer design and front-facing camera capable of video calling. Apple also updated the display with a high-resolution screen that measures 960 x 640 pixels. The phone Further more features a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash and HD video recording. The iPhone 4 was running on the new iOS 4 which introduced all kinds of new features of which the most important one was multitasking. This allowed you to run multiple apps at the same time, and switch between them, without slowing down the performance of the device.

The iPhone 4 is just as the earlier version of the iPhone available in a 16GB and 32GB version and you can choose between a Black or White version. However the White version of the iPhone 4 is still delayed until now and will not be available until early 2011.

Apple iPad

Way before the iPhone 4 was announced Apple introduced another revolutionary product called the iPad. The Apple iPad is a tablet and can be seen as something in between Apple’s monumental iPhone and wildly successful MacBook line. The iPad has a high-resolution 9.7 inch LED-backlit IPS touchscreen which is perfect for browsing the web, viewing photo’s or watching a movie. The device has a stunning design and is extremely thin and light. Thanks to the iOS 4 and the multi-touch support this tablet is easy to use and extremely user friendly. It has a 1 GHz A4 chip giving the iPad a performance that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen on a touch-based device. Add to that the built-in WiFi and optional 3G support and you can see why people think this tablet is the ultimate device on the market.

What will Apple have in store for us now?

It is always difficult to predict what Apple will bring in 2011 as Steve Jobs is a master in keeping secrets inside the company. The rumors so far indicate that we can expect a new iPad somewhere early 2011. This iPad 2 is rumored to have 2 cameras, a gyroscope and an even thinner design, however as always these rumors have not been confirmed by anyone. Next to the iPad 2 the new iPhone (5?) will be announced somewhere in June and this will most likely be the most anticipated event of the year.
