main reason for this product is the ability to search and / or delete my iPhone, if lost. When the story forwards iPhone Gizmodo, and I know I have some data on my iPhone as I would prefer not to see it fall into the wrong hands, I bought MobileMe for “Find my iPhone” function. From $ 99/yr is steep on the characteristics of MobileMe, most of which are complimentary to other sites on the Internet. That said, one can only hope that Apple, or reduce costs or improve the operation when they get a huge server farm in North Carolina began. Although I had to use the “Find my iPhone” function I think this is a must if you have important or sensitive information on your iPhone.

I purchased a Mac Mini in May 09, my first Mac. Fortunately for me, the sales rep was a Mac person himself and was able to show me a few of the many perks of having this little machine. MobileMe software was not included, but he was super cool and hooked up discounts and rebates if I purchased the Mini and MobileMe. My monitor is being repaired right now, so my Mac is not directly accessible at the moment, but my iDisc is. All of my documents, music, movies, pictures, and anything I choose to have on my iDisc is accessible through the online MobileMe cloud! So, all my assignments I had saved for research papers can be uploaded to my PC! Seriously, this software saved my butt! If you are a Mac person, I highly recommend you invest in a mobileme account! I purchased mine through Amazon for .00 flat, shipping, tax, and my new Individual MobileMe. You can’t beat that price anywhere, it’s normally +tax!

I tried this out back when I only had a PC because it was a free trial and do not think it is worth it for PC users but now that I have a mac I think it is useful because I can use all of it. It is sort of silly though b/c you buy through amazon and they send you an activation code in a box that looks like a CD that could have just been emailed to you! Still, this is the same product Apple sells for so if you want it then get it here!

Find My iPhone Makes It Worthwhile

For years I had this service when it was called .Mac, but after discovering Dropbox and Foxmarks I stopped using it. However, being an iPhone owner who lives out of her phone, I started to get nervous about what would happen if I lost it or it was stolen. I hate using the keylock feature, but it’s pretty irresponsible not to, right? How else can I protect my phone and all my data? 

With MobileMe, that’s how. If you ever lose your iPhone, just log on to [...] and find it (as long as it’s still turned on, of course)! You can set a lock code (or override one that’s already set), send the phone text messages and play sounds that will pop up even if you’ve locked the phone or it’s on silent or vibrate. And, if you’re afraid your phone will never make it back to you, you also have the option to completely erase all of the data, restoring the phone back to factory settings. (And, as a nice touch, if you do happen to find your phone eventually, you can restore it back to how you had it before.) 

Calendar, bookmarking and contact syncs are great, too, as is the iDisk space and domain hosting, but after Find My Phone everything is pretty much icing on the cake. 

(And iPad owners can find their missing iPad the same way, too.)

Great product, bad delivery system

I have no qualms with MobileMe. I use it to host my website, and that’s great. What I do have a problem with is how this was purchased. All you are getting is a product code. That is it. This has me wondering why shipping an empty box from New Jersey to Seattle, WA, is needed. Talk about a waste of resources: packaging, fuel for shipping, labor to package and ship it. Now, I’m grateful for the lower price on Amazon (saved around 25 frog skins when compared with Apple), but the delivery needs to be something like this: buy MobileMe code -> have MobileMe code e-mailed to me -> use MobileMe code.

Sync 2 PC’s & 1 IPhone

Great way to keep my calendars on 3 different devices (2 pc 1 iphone) in sync by allowing me to input up dates on any one of them and the others are automatically updated. The IDisk is very useful letting me store some .doc files that I converted to .PDF for viewing when on the go where the IPhone does not allow on phone file storage / access. There is also the plus of allowing very large file storage that most email servers can not handle and emailing another contact a password and link to access / download. 
Updates calendars, favorites/bookmarks, contacts, etc in sync. You also have a calendar and an email address on mobileme. Smooth installation. The only down side is the yearly renewal

This is a great program and one I have used for one year. It helps me stay organized. 
Finding it on amazon cheaper than in the Apple store, well thats just outstanding.
